Summary

Properly applying inputs becomes particularly important when input prices are high and cottonprices are low. This presentation addresses the law of diminishing returns as it generally applies to production inputs. Specific responses to seeding rates, nitrogen, foliar fungicides, and defoliants are discussed. While the specific levels of inputs required to maximize returns vary across the Cotton Belt, the framework of evaluating input levels discussed in this presentation should assist growers in all regions who are looking to maximize profitability.
