Andrei Alyokhin received a PhD in Entomology in 1999 from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, where he worked on insecticide resistance in the Colorado potato beetle. After spending 2 years as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Hawaii, he returned to studying insect pests of potato as an Assistant Professor of Applied Entomology at the University of Maine. His major areas of research interest are applied insect ecology, evolution, insect behavior, and integrated pest management. He is also interested in more theoretical investigations of factors responsible for growth and diversity of insect populations.
