In the humid Mid-South U.S., cotton irrigation is a challenge because of the variations in rainfall, temperature, and cloudiness during the growing season. Cotton water requirements vary throughout the growing season in response to crop growth characteristics and environmental conditions. This presentation provides an overview of crop water use, water requirements at different growth stages, and seasonal water needs. Information and tools are discussed to help producers better understand crop water requirements and manage irrigation and water resources.
